PA2 features

ALL YOU NEED TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR PA. NOW WITH COMPLETE CONTROL FROM YOUR MOBILE DEVICE.

The DriveRack® PA2 provides all the processing you need between your mixer and amplifiers to optimize and protect your loudspeakers. With the latest advancements in dbx’s proprietary AutoEQ™ and AFS™ algorithms, a new input delay module for delaying the FOH system to the backline, Ethernet control via an Android®, iOS®, Mac®, or Windows® device, and updated Wizards, the DriveRack PA2 continues the DriveRack legacy of great-sounding, powerful, and affordable loudspeaker management processors, for a whole new generation.

AUTOEQ™

New, improved AutoEQ algorithm ensures an extremely accurate, fast, and non-intrusive automatic EQ experience.

With the RTA Mic “listening” to your room, the new, updated DriveRack PA2 AutoEQ algorithm sets speaker levels and room EQ automatically in a matter of seconds. This means room adjustments can now be made very quickly, without subjecting the audience to annoying, lengthy broadcasts of pink noise.

ENHANCED AFS™ FEEDBACK ELIMINATION

Enhanced AFS™ algorithm for faster, more precise feedback elimination, without adversely affecting your system’s tone.

Nothing turns audiences away like annoying and potentially painful audio feedback. Fortunately, dbx engineers have revisited their already-stellar Advanced Feedback Suppression algorithm and made it work even better. The DriveRack PA2 listens for and anticipates feedback and adjusts speaker output automatically before it even has a chance, while never altering your sound.

UPDATED WIZARD SETUP FUNCTIONS

Updated Wizards make initial set up easy, while ensuring speaker tunings and other settings are up-to-date.

Wizard functions on the DriveRack PA2 guide you through easy, step-by-step processes to help you get the most from your loudspeaker system. Helps you easily configure level balancing, AutoEQ, Advanced Feedback Suppression, and provides access to built-in and constantly updating speaker tunings from most major speaker manufacturers.

Rental System FAQs

How many people will the PA system serve?

  1. Sound system speakers provide sound to a given area at a desired sound level. The more people present, the higher the ambient noise level will be (due to talking etc…)

  2. Our “number of people” estimates are based on the following:

    • The lower number is for outdoor events with loud music requirements

    • The high number is for smaller indoor spaces with “pleasant” listening levels

    • We recommend additional “delay” speakers for large indoor or outdoor spaces

    • For “very loud” events like indoor school rallies we recommend using our lower estimates

  3. You need more speakers for outdoor events than indoor events

  4. You need more speakers for “loud music” events than soft music or spoken word events

  5. You need more bass for modern dance music and rock, especially outdoors

  6. Larger rooms need more speakers than smaller rooms

  7. Ask us for guidance when placing your order if you have not set up a rental PA speaker system before. Whether live sound, DJ or other application, we are happy to share our 50 years of experience!

What will I need to rent from CPS&L?

  • All rentals require a valid CA drivers license and major US credit card (debit/credit cards not accepted)

  • Must be over 18 and sign the rental contract which states that you pay for any/all damage to equipment

Do you deliver the equipment? Set it up?

Delivery:

  • If we have a technician available for your date and time we can deliver the equipment within 25 miles or 30 minutes of our equipment storage facility for a $200 fee. Over 25 miles is $2/mile. Over 30 minutes in $100/hour.

  • “Delivery” means we will deliver and retrieve the gear curbside at your location. No set-up included.

Set-up:

  • Set-up and break-down is negotiable depending on the needs of the particular event/venue. We estimate the time and charge $100/hour for that time.

  • “Set-up” means place the sound system in the venue and optimize it for music playback.

  • Placement is limited to the location of power for all devices. If a certain location is desired, customer is responsible for making sure power is provided to that location

  • We do not provide “live sound” mixing for bands

Production:

  • Includes all aspects of delivery/set-up as well as live sound mixing as needed.

  • Customer is still responsible for power source unless is is included in the production quote.

  • Production quotes are available as needed

How do I set the system up?

View the appropriate videos below on YouTube for guidance.

System Troubleshooting

There is still no sound!

  • The most common error is forgetting to un-mute the PA2 High or High and Low channels.

  • Are the Speakers plugged in? Turned on (blue light on front LED)? Level on appropriate channel A or B turned up?

  • Is there a good signal cable plugged into the speaker? Is it plugged into a source on the other end (mixer, instrument or microphone)?

  • Are all mixers and processors plugged in? Turned on? Un-muted? Levels appropriate? Do you see a signal?

  • DJ mixer – Do you have a signal? Is the channel turned up? Is it muted? Is the proper sound card assigned (MIDI mixer)? Is filter all the way up or down? Are EQ channels down or muted?

  • Live mixer – Did you assign the channel to “Stereo”? Is the channel gain up?

    • Do you see signal if the channel is “soloed”?

      • No = No source signal – Is the channel muted? Instrument turned on? Mic switch on?

      • Yes = Is the channel muted? Is the Channel fader up? Is the Stereo master fader up?)

  • PA2 – Did you set it up? Are the speaker feed cables plugged into the back in the right spot? Did you un-mute the channels (right side – red lights under “High” “Mid” and “Low” should be OFF

Sounds bad

  • Adjust mixer high, mid and low eq’s to the noon position

  • Adjust mixer filter to the noon position

  • Very low volume from turntable?

    • Make sure mixer has a pre-amp

    • Turn up pre-fader channel gain

  • Turntable hum/rumble?

    • Connect the ground wire properly

    • Move turntable away from speaker or vibration

  • System hum

    • Use “Inverter” type generators only. Non-inverter generators will cause expensive damage to the amps.

    • Use a better power cord

    • Make sure there is no machinery operating on the same circuit your sound is plugged into.
